Description
Oval, coiled, slat foundation carrying basket. Rim is single coiled and beaded with red cherry bark. Two coiled handles of cedar root foundation are attached to loops in the rim. Body of the basket is decorated with alternating red and black cherry bark with white grass (cat-tail) in eight vertical imbricated bands. Very finely woven.
Specific Techniques
According to Sto:lo basket maker Frieda George the coils on this basket indicate that it was made by a left handed person.
