Description

Hand-woven cotton belt decorated with a geometric design. The pattern consists of diamond shapes of different sizes divided by rows of plain bands of colours. A long fringe of twisted red cotton thread is left on each end. At one end this fringe has been partly broken away. Colours are red, yellow, black, red and orange.

History Of Use

This breast belt is a decorative article of clothing. The design of diamond shapes of different sizes and shapes with internal repetition, divided by straight band of colour, is one which is prevalent throughout the area. This belt is worn by men, diagonally across one shoulder and tied in the back.
