Crossbow Arrow Item Number: Ej139 from the MOA: University of British Columbia
Description
Wood shaft with three-sided blade which takes one quarter of overall length. Widest side has indented line painted red. Shaft is lacquered with gold, red brown, and black bands. Notched ivory piece for butt end. Below this, a knotted cotton cord is attached through hole in the shaft. Below this, four feathers are attached lengthwise along gold lacquered shaft section and are held in place by two black lacquer bands which overlap at the ends of the feathers. Two feathers have disappeared, the other two are still attached.
History Of Use
Bolt for crossbow. Always shorter and heavier than arrows for the long bow.
