Textile Item Number: Sa321 from the MOA: University of British Columbia
Rectangular, red textile of woven cotton; fabric sample with pinked edges. White adhesive tag has '41' written in black felt.
This sample is from a plain weave textile, woven on a commercial treadle loom. Men operate these looms in co-operative or factory enterprises. These textiles are produced mainly for skirts, shawls, and shirts. Although textile patterns were formerly distinguishable between towns, adaptation of patterns from town to town, makes establishing the origin of a modern commercial textile virtually impossible (Anderson).
