Ornament Item Number: Sf574 from the MOA: University of British Columbia

Description

A semi-circular shaped ornament made of a thin sheet of gold-coloured metal. The straight edge of the ornament has a circle cut out of it. There is a repousse design of five concentric circles at the centre with a border of two rows of repousse dots.

History Of Use

Nose ornaments are depicted frequently in Moche and Vicus ceramics. They are worn hanging from the septum (Lumbreras).
