Description
Painting depicting a standing buck with antlers and a doe lying down beside with rock outcrops and tree limbs, all on a dark buff background. Rosewood (?) handles and cylindrical roller. Signature and two seals of the artist, dates unknown, on the left-hand side of the image. Attached at the top is a silk tie for tying and a cord for hanging.

Narrative
Probably late 18th-19th century, by a little known artist (and official?) of the Qing Dynasty. Of interest, is the artist's statement that this is a finger painting, an unusual technique for a Chinese painter. Finger painting is perhaps best known in the works of Kao Ch'i-P'ei, 1672-1734, of the Qing Dynasty.
